Achieving a fulfilled lifestyle’s something everyone desires. One may ask what a fulfilled lifestyle is.
When someone has a fulfilled lifestyle, a lot of positive energy will flow from the person. The person will come across as cheerful, in control, happy, confident, likeable, sociable, healthy, and above all, professional in the work space.
How does one go about achieving this? What does this mean to a young career professional striving to be the best professional, a great spouse, a great parent, a great child and a great friend?
By ensuring that your work, family, social, and personal life are all adequately taken care of at all times.
You see, how we show up in any situation affects our general psyche. More often than not, people are unable to achieve the desire of having a fulfilled lifestyle because they’re caught up in trying to juggle so many activities, and in the process end up being stressed and unable to achieve perfection in more than one or two areas.
Having this fulfilled lifestyle’s more like being able to have a work-life balance. Having this balance is when an individual is able to be the best they can be in all situations: being a great professional, spouse, parent, child, friend, and also succeed in being able to have time for personal things, which I will call the ‘you’ time. (That’s the time an individual has allocated to do things for themselves, be it meditation or physical exercise.)
One’s ability to achieve this lifestyle is essentially by finding how to appreciate and utilize one’s time effectively. How to prioritize what’s important, what’s urgent, and what could be considered unimportant.
Being able to classify things accordingly and adequately planning how time is best utilized is of fundamental importance to be able to work towards living this desirable lifestyle.
The individual takes out time for every little detail with the desired attention as to when it’s necessary. Health care’s not left to chance, nor is vacation time considered unimportant; there’s a plan in place for health maintenance and all of life’s essentials. Family time is appreciated and enjoyed.
Often times, when you ask people what work-life balance means to them, most people have the mistaken belief that it means having to divide their life to create a balance between their work, family, and social life.
This is an unrealistic approach as it’s practically impossible to work out such a balance. The right approach is to put down a written plan as to how you have to spend each day/week, allocating times that are realistic and achievable. When this plan is put in place, you try to live it out, which means no room for cheating out on any segment.
Time allotted to family has to be strictly that– no other thing interferes with it. When it’s the ‘you’ time, the time allotted for your meditation or personal relaxation, say working-out or whatever it may be, it has to be so utilized.
When you work with a Coach, it becomes easy to achieve this fulfilled lifestyle.
I have often been asked what the difference is between a Coach and a Therapist; a Coach will partner with a client to achieve the client’s agenda. The Coach isn’t an authority and won’t tell you what to do, nor will the Coach try to judge the client.
Rather, the Coach, through a process, will work with the client from the point the client starts at all the way to the point where the client desires to be. The client’s desired goal is the sole objective and helping the client to achieve this desired goal, the agenda.
Through the process, a plan’s put in place that the client will follow to get to where the client desires to be. The client agrees to be accountable to the Coach and this keeps the client in check to ensure the plan’s followed through.
Working with the client, the Coach will give desired support— through encouragements and celebrations of achievements– which will serve as a morale booster for the client to push towards that desired goal.
The Coach will continue to work with the client, being on a weekly contact, for as long as it’s necessary for the client to feel the Coach is no longer required (obviously up to the time the client gets to the point desired). However, the minimum period to work with the Coach for any value to be realized is three months.
Having a fulfilled lifestyle might seem like an unachievable feat, but it’s something that is very possible. I have a passion for helping people actualize this objective, as seeing someone living this fulfilled lifestyle gives me tremendous joy.
